Support with Standardisation

Transferring research results to a standards-setting organisation can increase their value, extend exploitation, spur innovation, and transform these results into marketable solutions.

Support with Standardisation is a specialised service designed to facilitate this and to streamline the dialogue of beneficiaries with the standardisation landscape and its main actors, namely corresponding Standards Developing Organisations (SDOs). This service offers free one-to-one coaching and training webinars for organisations seeking guidance on standardisation-related aspects of their research projects.

Access to the D&E Academy

(who can apply)

To be eligible, the beneficiary—either a Research Team or a Research Management Administrator from a Widening or Outermost Region—must propose a result with an intermediate to advanced Technology Readiness Level (TRL) between 4 and 9.

Programme Structure

(how it is organised in practice)

The consultancy service is designed based on the consolidated experience of the Horizon Standardisation Booster to be "light" and efficient. The “Support with Standardisation” service will be spread over a maximum timeframe of 2 months. If required, longer durations can be agreed upon based on specific needs. After the expert has been matched with the Research Team, in each service they will carry out up to 3 calls of approximately 1.5 hours between the beneficiary and the expert, plus independent work.

Our Standardisation Experts

(who the experts are and how they are selected)

Senior seasoned professionals who understand both standardization institutions and research/innovation dynamics, from (or have experience) with National/European/International Standardisation Bodies. All experts combine technical, regulatory, innovation and strategic insight, combined with wide experience within research and/or industry experience.

The expert assigned to each beneficiary will be selected based on the beneficiary’s field of expertise and will tailor the standardisation strategy accordingly. The matchmaking process will also take into account the following criteria:

  • The expert’s involvement in relevant Technical Committees and Working Groups;
  • The expert’s professional track record and roles within Standards Developing Organisations (SDOs) at national, European, and/or international level;
  • The alignment between the expert’s standardisation expertise and the topic addressed by the beneficiary’s results;
  • The number of projects and beneficiaries supported by the expert during their involvement in the HSBooster project.

These criteria will ensure that each beneficiary is matched with the most suitable expert to effectively support the development and implementation of its standardisation strategy.
