What are Synergies?
Synergies are actions undertaken by project beneficiaries to leverage funding from multiple European and/or National programmes to fund different parts of a project. This can be an opportunity for the valorisation of Research results to be funded as a follow-up to an existing action which does not cover the costs of the valorisation of research results.
Synergies in Widening are a common occurrence and there are examples of how such synergies have been implemented. Common synergies are found between Horizon Europe and the cohesion policy programmes, mainly the European Fund for Regional Development (ERDF) but also INTERREG and the Resilience and Recovery Fund (RRF), are instrumental for widening countries to catch up in their R&I performance and to reduce the innovation divide in Europe.
