The widerAdvance Facility invites Research Teams and Research Managers and Administrators (RMAs) receiving support from the Facility, as well as interested local and international stakeholders, to join its upcoming Open Day and Matchmaking Event in Tenerife, Canary Islands.
The event will give widerAdvance participants the opportunity to present their Key Exploitable Results to a jury, receive practical feedback and discuss their value proposition, potential applications and next steps with relevant experts and stakeholders.
The programme will include pitching sessions, round-table discussions on factors supporting innovation, and dedicated matchmaking and networking activities. Participants will be able to connect with:
- other Research Teams and RMAs receiving services from the widerAdvance Facility;
- socioeconomic actors offering insights into technology deployment and market needs;
- local and international stakeholders supporting research and innovation;
- representatives of European initiatives and networks, including the Enterprise Europe Network, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology and National Contact Points.
The Matchmaking Event will take place on 12 November in Tenerife, alongside a dedicated Study Visit to the Canary Islands’ research and innovation ecosystem on 10–11 November. The Study Visit will introduce participants to the region’s expertise and facilities in areas ranging from agrotechnology to astrophysics.

Arrange your meetings before Tenerife
The Open Day and Matchmaking Event is not only an opportunity to present your Key Exploitable Result. It is also a chance to meet people who may bring a useful perspective, relevant expertise or a possible route towards further cooperation.
To help participants find the right contacts and make good use of their time in Tenerife, we will use Brella, an online networking and matchmaking platform.
You can join the platform before the event, create your profile, explore the participant list and arrange individual meetings for 12 November.
What is matchmaking?
Matchmaking connects participants according to their interests, expertise and the type of cooperation they are looking for.
For Research Teams and Research Managers and Administrators, this may mean meeting:

experts who can comment on a result or its possible application;

companies familiar with market needs and technology deployment;

potential research or innovation partners;
-
representatives of regional and European support networks;
-
other teams facing similar challenges or working in related fields.
Local and international stakeholders can use the platform to discover research results, meet the teams behind them and identify opportunities for cooperation.
The aim is to make it easier to find relevant people before the event instead of relying entirely on chance encounters on the day.

How does it work?
1. Join the event on Brella
Use the link below to access the widerAdvance Facility event:
Create a Brella account using your email address. If you already have an account, simply sign in and join the event.
You can use Brella in your web browser or through the mobile application.
2. Complete your profile
Add your name, organisation, position and a short introduction.
If you represent a Research Team, briefly describe your Key Exploitable Result and its potential use. You do not need to include a full technical description. Focus on the information that will help another participant understand:

what you are working on;
-
who could use or benefit from the result;
-
what kind of expertise, partner or opportunity you are looking for.
Stakeholders should briefly describe their organisation, expertise and the type of research teams or cooperation they are interested in.
A clear profile makes it much easier for other participants to decide whether a meeting could be useful.
3. Select your interests and goals
Choose the topics that best describe your work and what you are looking for during the event.
Brella uses this information to suggest potentially relevant contacts. The more accurate your selections are, the more useful these recommendations will be.
4. Set your availability
Select the times when you will be available for one-to-one meetings on 12 November.
A meeting can only be arranged when both participants are available, so remember to check this section carefully.
5. Find people you would like to meet
Open the People or Attendees section to view your suggested matches and the full participant list.
You can search for a specific person or organisation and use the available filters to find participants according to their role, expertise or interests.
When you find someone relevant, open their profile to learn more about their work and networking goals.
6. Send a meeting request
Select Connect or Suggest meeting, choose an available time and add a short personal message.
Explain why you would like to meet and what you would like to discuss. Two or three specific sentences are enough.
For example:
Hello, I represent a research team working on [short description of the result]. We are currently looking for [expertise, partner or opportunity]. I believe your experience in [relevant area] could be valuable, and I would be glad to discuss possible links during the event.
7. Respond to incoming requests
Other participants may also invite you to meet. Check your notifications regularly and accept, decline or suggest another time.
Please do not leave requests unanswered. A pending invitation may block the selected meeting time for both participants.
8. Check your schedule
Once a request has been accepted, the meeting will appear in your personal Brella schedule.
Before the event, check the meeting time and the location or table number shown in the platform. On 12 November, simply follow your schedule and meet your contacts in the designated matchmaking area.
Make your profile easy to understand
Before publishing your profile, check whether it answers three simple questions:

You do not need a long description. A short and specific profile will usually work better than a page full of general information.
