The main purpose of this Study Visit is to explore how a regional research and innovation ecosystem can effectively connect universities, research infrastructures, technology centres, industry and public authorities to strengthen research excellence, knowledge valorisation and innovation. Through visits to leading research organisations and innovation actors across Tenerife, participants will gain practical insights into research support services, technology transfer, research infrastructures, regional innovation governance and collaboration with industry.
The Study Visit will also provide valuable opportunities for networking, peer learning and the exchange of experiences among participants from Widening countries and Outermost Regions.
The Study Visit will be followed by the Open Days and Matchmaking Event on 12 November 2026, allowing participants to build directly on the knowledge, contacts and ideas developed during the visits. The event will bring research teams and research management professionals into contact with relevant socioeconomic and innovation actors, including SMEs, industry representatives, investors, policy makers, innovation support agencies and technology transfer intermediaries.
Through pitching sessions, workshops and direct B2B meetings, participants will be able to present their Key Exploitable Results, receive feedback from potential end users, refine their value propositions, explore follow-up funding and innovation support opportunities, and identify possible partners for future collaboration.

Canary Islands Research Agency Innovation and the Information Society (ACIISI)
ACIISI is the Regional Agency for Research and Innovation under the Regional Ministry of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture. It coordinates and supports research and innovation across the Canary Islands by working with universities, research centres, companies and other regional stakeholders. ACIISI is responsible for implementing the Regional Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3), managing R&D&I funding programmes, supporting research careers, and promoting the internationalisation of the regional innovation ecosystem through European and international collaborations.
Institute of Natural Products and Agrobiology (CSIC – IPNA)
The Institute of Natural Products and Agrobiology (IPNA-CSIC) is a multidisciplinary research center of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), located in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife. Its activities range from fundamental research to technological development, with expertise spanning chemical sciences, agricultural sciences, and life and earth sciences. Its research includes natural products chemistry and biotechnology, medicinal and biological chemistry, agrobiotechnology, soil fertility and plant nutrition, as well as studies related to the biodiversity and natural resources of the Canary Islands. University of La Laguna (ULL)
The University of La Laguna (ULL) is a leading public university and research institution in the Canary Islands, located in Tenerife. It conducts research across a broad range of disciplines through an extensive network of research groups, departments and university institutes, covering fields such as science and engineering, health sciences, social sciences and humanities. The University also places a strong emphasis on knowledge transfer, innovation and scientific entrepreneurship, promoting collaboration between academia, public institutions and the private sector and supporting the creation of knowledge-based companies and spin-offs.
Technological Institute and Renewable Energy Centre (ITER)
The Institute of Technology and Renewable Energies (ITER) is a research and technology organization founded by the Island Council of Tenerife (Cabildo de Tenerife) to promote sustainable development and innovation. Based in Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife, ITER develops R&D&I activities in areas including renewable energy, engineering, telecommunications, environmental sciences, genomics and advanced technologies. It operates significant research and technological infrastructures, including wind and photovoltaic facilities and a supercomputing center, and participates extensively in national and European R&D&I projects. ARQUIMEA is a Spanish technology company with a strong presence in the Canary Islands, specialising in the development of advanced technological solutions for highly demanding sectors. Canary Islands Institute of Astrophisics (IAC) & IACTEC
The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) is an internationally recognised research centre dedicated to astrophysics and astronomy and one of the leading scientific institutions in the Canary Islands. It conducts cutting-edge research in fields ranging from solar physics and stellar astrophysics to galaxies, cosmology and the development of advanced astronomical instrumentation. The IAC also manages, together with its international partners, the Canary Islands Observatories, which benefit from exceptional conditions for astronomical observation and host some of the world’s most advanced telescopes.
IACTEC is the IAC’s technological and innovation area, created to strengthen the transfer of knowledge and technologies developed in astrophysics to other scientific, industrial and commercial fields. Its activities include advanced optics, space technologies, medical technology and other high-tech applications, fostering collaboration with companies and institutions and contributing to the diversification of the Canary Islands’ innovation ecosystem.
